Robert Louis Shueller

Robert Louis Shueller was born in Detroit, Michigan, on October 18, 1921, the son of Louis and Laura Stadelman Shueller. The Shueller family lived on West Fifth Street in Rochester, and Robert’s father ran a dry goods store on Main Street. Robert attended Rochester High School and graduated in the class of 1939, then entered Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, Tennessee.

In June 1943, Robert entered the U.S. Army after graduation from Castle Heights and completed officer training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He then received his commission as a lieutenant in the infantry. Robert was assigned to Company H of the 377th Infantry Regiment, 95th Division, and served in the European Theater. He was wounded in action in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge on February 4, 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

After the war, Robert married and started a family, and embarked on a career in banking. He served as a manager for Community National Bank in Pontiac, Michigan, and was active in several community organizations, including the Rochester Lions Club, Elks Club, and Rotary Club. He retired to North Carolina.

Robert Louis Shueller died at age 85 on January 7, 2006.
