History Hounds Online Lectures: Secrecy and Survival: The USS Indianapolis Disaster

You will register for the lecture on the Historical Society of Michigan’s website and receive separate webinar instructions.

NOTE: Registration for each History Hounds® event closes 3 hours prior to the event time—9 a.m. ET for Tuesday midday lectures and 4 p.m. ET for Wednesday evening lectures. Registrations completed after those times will not be processed in time for live viewing of the event. All lecture times are scheduled in the Eastern time zone.

This lecture synopsis:

In July 1945, a Japanese submarine torpedoed the cruiser USS Indianapolis. Nine hundred of its 1200 men went into the Philippine Sea and, during the next four days, sharks and exposure killed 600 of them. Learn about the tragedy and the Michigan men aboard the ill-fated vessel.
