History Hounds Online Lectures: REWIND – Michigan Beer: A Heady History

December 10 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

All programs are remote, via Zoom. RAHS members can register for the programs on the Historical Society of Michigan’s (HSM) website. On the registration form, please will select “A member of an HSM member organization” and enter Rochester-Avon Historical Society. HSM will automatically email you the Zoom link the day before each program.

Free admission is courtesy of our membership with the Historical Society of Michigan.

NOTE: Registration for each History Hounds® event closes 3 hours prior to the event time—9 a.m. ET for Tuesday midday lectures and 4 p.m. ET for Wednesday evening lectures. Registrations completed after those times will not be processed in time for live viewing of the event. All lecture times are scheduled in the Eastern time zone.

This lecture synopsis:

Michigan, the Great Lakes State, is also the Great Beer State. Author Patti F. Smith highlights the history of the state’s brewers, from the pioneers through Prohibition and post-WWII. Learn how immigrants brought distinctive beer styles from their home countries, as well as about early Detroit brewers, brewing consolidation after the war, and how COVID-19 altered the landscape.
