Stanley Amil Soule
Stanley Amil Soule was born in Romeo, Michigan, on May 19, 1919, the son of Charles and Anna Suelflow Soule. Stanley grew up in the Washington Township village of Mount Vernon, northeast of Rochester. He married Genevieve Blankenburg in 1940. Before the war, Stanley worked as a mechanic at the Riemenschneider Dodge dealership in Pontiac, Michigan.
In July 1944, Stanley enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the 35th Infantry Division, known as the “Santa Fe” Division, and served overseas in Europe. His division battled across the Elbe River in the push toward Berlin. Stanley was wounded in action on April 12, 1945, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was discharged from military service in November 1945.
After the war, Stanley returned to the Rochester area, brought up his family, and worked for General Motors.
Stanley Amil Soule died at age 91 on October 14, 2010, and was laid to rest in Van Hoosen-Jones Stoney Creek Cemetery.
