Amos Lyle Ruddock
Amos Lyle Ruddock was born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 8, 1910, the son of Walter and Edna Hanmer Ruddock. Amos grew up in Rochester, attended Rochester High School, and graduated in the class of 1927. After high school, he continued his education at Alma College. Amos moved to Midland, Michigan, married in 1937, and taught social science at Midland High School. In 1939, he joined the staff of Dow Chemical Company.
In June 1942, Amos left Dow Chemical to enlist in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was stationed at the Atlantic City, New Jersey, Coast Guard station.
After the war, Amos returned to Midland to resume his career with Dow Chemical. He retired from Dow in 1969 after 30 years of service, then went on to a career teaching business administration at Northwood Institute (now Northwood University) until 1973. He retired in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Amos Lyle Ruddock died at age 91 on April 5, 2002.
