Ruth Elizabeth Masters

Ruth Elizabeth Masters was born in Dowagiac, Michigan, on February 11, 1922, the daughter of Leland and Eva Wiltse Masters. Ruth attended Rochester High School and graduated in the class of 1938. She graduated from the Toledo School of Nursing in 1942, then worked at Children’s Hospital in Detroit.

In June 1943, Ruth enlisted in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. After training, she was assigned to the 100th Evacuation Hospital and was sent overseas to the European Theater. Ruth was close to the action in the campaigns for Normandy, the Ardennes, and the Rhineland. She married fellow Army officer Edward Quinn in Germany in July 1945.

After the war, Ruth and Edward brought up their family in Edward’s hometown of Troy, New York, where Edward founded the Quinn Funeral Home.

Ruth Elizabeth Masters Quinn died at age 46 on August 29, 1968, and was laid to rest in Troy, New York.
