David John Shearman
David John Shearman was born in Troy Township, Michigan, on August 21, 1924, the son of John and Vera Sipperly Shearman. David attended Rochester High School and graduated in the class of 1942.
In March 1943, David entered the U.S. Army. He began his military service with the Corps of Engineers but later transferred to the 101st Infantry Regiment. He was sent overseas to Europe in February 1944 and participated in campaigns in France, Germany, and Luxembourg. He was awarded the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his actions and wounds received during the Battle of the Bulge. David was released from military service in February 1946.
After the war, David married, started a family, and attended the American Television Institute of Technology in Chicago. He joined MIT Lincoln Laboratory in 1953 and worked there for 40 years, retiring as a staff engineer. He participated in several projects for the Department of Defense during his career.
David John Shearman died at age 88 on February 15, 2013, and was laid to rest in Newton, Massachusetts.
