Robert LaFayette Harvey

Robert LaFayette Harvey was born in Pontiac, Michigan, on June 18, 1919, the son of William and Mary Portus Harvey. By 1940, Robert was living in Rochester while working at Pontiac Motors in Pontiac.

During the war, Robert entered the U.S. Army and was assigned to the 107th Medical Battalion, 126th Infantry Regiment, a part of the 32nd “Red Arrow” Infantry Division. He served in the Philippines, New Guinea, and Australia.

After the war, Robert and his wife, June, whom he had met while serving in Australia, settled in Washtenaw County to bring up their family. Robert was employed as an electrician at the University of Michigan, retiring in 1976.

Robert Lafayette Harvey died at age 87 on April 19, 2007, and was laid to rest in Saline, Michigan.
