Roy “Bud” Rosskilley Jr.
Roy “Bud” Rosskilley Jr. was born in Detroit, Michigan, on December 12, 1920, the son of Roy and Annie Savala Rosskilley. Bud’s family moved to Avon Township when he was a small child.
In October 1942, Bud entered the U.S. Army and was assigned to the 87th Engineer (Heavy Ponton) Battalion. He was wounded in action by artillery shell fragments on January 1, 1945, in Luxembourg, and was awarded the Purple Heart medal. Bud was released from military service in November 1945.
After the war, Bud married, started a family, and went on to a 40-year career at National Twist Drill & Tool Company in Avon Township.
Roy Rosskilley Jr. died at age 70 on September 19, 1991, and was laid to rest at Mount Avon Cemetery.
