Norman Franklin Powers
Norman Franklin Powers was born in Point Edward, Ontario, on August 3, 1915, the son of Benjamin and Mary Holbrook Powers. Norman came to Rochester, Michigan, in 1930 to live with his older sister, Marjorie, and her husband, Charles Webber, who were the proprietors of Webber Cleaners in Rochester. Norman attended Rochester High School and graduated in the class of 1933. After high school, he worked as a deliveryman in his sister’s dry cleaning business. He married Jessie Ewing of his hometown in Ontario in July 1940.
When the war broke out, Norman served for his native Canada in the Royal Canadian Air Force, rising to the rank of sergeant.
After the war, Norman and his wife operated Powers Cleaners in Wallaceburg, Ontario.
Norman Franklin Powers died at age 87 on September 20, 2001, and was laid to rest in Dresden, Ontario, Canada.
