Walter Lee “Red” Rewold

Walter Lee “Red” Rewold was born in Rochester, Michigan, on June 28, 1924, the son of Charles and Emma Ebeling Rewold. Red attended Rochester High School and graduated in the class of 1942.

In 1942, Red entered the U.S. Army and was assigned to the 581st Signal Depot Company. He served in North Africa and France before being shipped to the Pacific Theater, where he served in Manila. Red was released from military service in February 1946.

After the war, Red married, started a family, and owned and operated Village Cleaners in downtown Rochester. He operated the business until his retirement in 1998.

Walter Lee Rewold died at age 76 on April 16, 2001, and was laid to rest at Mount Avon Cemetery.
