Addison Drice Beatty

Addison Drice Beatty was born in Oakland County, Michigan, on August 29, 1912, the son of William and Mildred Tower Beatty. He grew up on a farm in Oakland Township. Before the war, Addison worked as a farm laborer.

In June 1942, Addison entered the U.S. Army and was assigned as a cook with the 29th Troop Carrier Squadron, 313th Troop Carrier Group. He was sent overseas with his unit in early 1943 and was based in Italy and North Africa. The 313th participated in the invasion of Sicily and the D-Day invasion of Normandy.

After the war, Addison worked in an automobile assembly plant.

Addison Drice Beatty died at age 59 on May 11, 1972, and was laid to rest in Paint Creek Cemetery.
