Warren Joseph Schluchter
Warren Joseph Schluchter was born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 19, 1921, the son of Joseph and Esther Braun Schluchter. The Schluchters lived on North Main Street in Rochester, and Warren attended Rochester High School, where he participated in boxing.
In January 1942, Warren entered the U.S. Marine Corps. He spent 36 months in the South Pacific with the First Marine Division and was wounded in action at Cape Gloucester in the New Britain Islands. Warren was awarded the Purple Heart and returned to the U.S. to serve as an instructor at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. He was released from military service in October 1945.
After the war, Warren and his wife, Marian, whom he had married in 1944, settled in Oregon to bring up their family. Warren worked in the plumbing supply business.
Warren Joseph Schluchter died at age 62 on November 14, 1983, and was laid to rest at Klamath Falls, Oregon.
