Warren Allen Spencer
Warren Allen Spencer was born in Armada, Michigan, on June 13, 1921, the son of Ela and Thelma Mills Spencer. The Spencer family moved to Avon Township around 1940 and lived in the Brooklands area.
In January 1942, Warren entered the U.S. Coast Guard. He attended radar operator school at Virginia Beach, Virginia, and was then stationed aboard the USS Ramsden, a destroyer escort ship manned by a Coast Guard crew. The Ramsden escorted convoys across the Atlantic Ocean.
Warren was released from military service in February 1947 and settled in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, where he worked for the Soo Line Railroad. He briefly returned to military service with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Warren Allen Spencer died at age 53 on January 29, 1975, and was laid to rest in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
