Richard Judson “Dick” Cole

Richard Judson “Dick” Cole was born in Romeo, Michigan, on August 24, 1919, the son of Rama and Emily Chapman Cole. Dick grew up in Rochester and attended Rochester High School, graduating in the class of 1937. After high school, he was employed in a photography studio.

In January 1941, Dick entered in the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the 19th Field Artillery Battalion of the 3rd Army, and stationed in several locations in the European Theater, including Iceland, Ireland, and Wiltshire, England. Dick was awarded the Bronze Star for “distinctive service in connection with military operations against the enemy during the period 13 July 1944 to 19 April 1945 in Europe.” He was released from military service in August 1945.

After the war, Dick married and worked at Pontiac Motors until his retirement. He made his home in Lake Orion, Michigan.

Richard Judson Cole died at age 71 on October 21, 1990.
