Marvin Nichols Meier
Marvin Nichols Meier was born in Rochester, Michigan, on April 18, 1918, the son of Frederick and Allie Nichols Meier. Marvin attended Rochester High School and graduated in the class of 1936. After high school, he worked at Pontiac Motors.
In February 1941, Marvin entered the U.S. Army. He was sent overseas in October 1944 and served with the 410th Infantry Regiment, 103rd Infantry Division. On January 23, 1945, Marvin and his unit were fighting in the vicinity of Ingwiller, France, on the French-German border, when he was killed in action. In February 1945, his parents in Rochester were notified that he was missing in action, and two months later they received word that he had been killed in action.
Marvin Nichols Meier died at age 26 on January 23, 1945, and was laid to rest at the Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-Avold, France.
