Harold William Enias
Harold William Enias was born in Rochester, Michigan, on January 25, 1925, the son of Harold and Merel McNeil Enias. Harold grew up in Rochester and attended Rochester schools.
In February 1942, just days after his seventeenth birthday, Harold enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was assigned to Company K, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. His unit landed at Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands on August 7, 1942, and Harold was killed in action in the battle for Guadalcanal on September 14, 1942. He was laid to rest in a Marine cemetery in the Solomons, but his remains were repatriated to the United States in 1948 and reinterred stateside.
Harold William Enias died at age 17 on September 14, 1942, and was laid to rest at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, Illinois.
