Leslie Edmund Wears Jr.
Leslie Edmund Wears Jr. was born in Great Neck, Long Island, New York, on April 4, 1917, the son of Leslie and Georgia Dowsey Wears. Leslie grew up in Queens, New York, and Highland Park, Michigan, and moved to Avon Township with his family about 1940. Before the war, Leslie worked as an investigator for the Pontiac Credit Bureau. He married in March 1942.
In April 1942, Leslie entered the U.S. Navy. He was stationed aboard the minesweeper USS YMS-7. He was discharged from military service in October 1945.
After the war, Leslie and his family lived in Alexandria, Virginia, and he was employed as a sales manager for a radio station in Baltimore, Maryland.
Leslie Edmund Wears Jr. died at age 36 on February 13, 1954, and was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery.
