Jeannette Adele Renshaw

Jeannette Adele Renshaw was born on November 17, 1917, the daughter of Thomas and Ella Carpenter Renshaw. The Renshaw family lived on Crooks Road in northern Troy Township, and Jeannette attended Stiles School, graduating in the class of 1934. Before the war, Jeannette worked at National Twist Drill & Tool Company in Avon Township.

In April 1944, Jeannette enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps (WACs) and took her training as a clerk-typist at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. She was stationed briefly in Brazil before being assigned to a post in Africa. Jeannette was released from military service in December 1945.

After the war, Jeannette married Carl Christie in 1955 and started a family.

Jeannette Adele Renshaw Christie died at age 89 on February 9, 2007, and was laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Michigan.
