Harold Elias Mowat
Harold Elias Mowat was born in Osceola County, Michigan, on June 2, 1916, the son of Edgar and Mary Bell Mowat. He grew up on a farm in Osceola County and married Helen Gruber of Evart, Michigan, in 1936. Harold moved to Rochester, Michigan, in 1941 and worked at the Parkedale Biological Farm.
In May 1945, Harold was inducted into the U.S. Army and was sent to Camp Livingston, Louisiana, for basic training in an infantry unit. He was released from military service five months later, in October 1945, due to a family hardship at home. He returned to Rochester and resumed his employment at the Parkedale Biological Farm.
Harold later worked for National Twist Drill & Tool Company in Avon Township as a machine repairman, retiring in 1978. He and his wife, Helen, moved to Farwell, Michigan, in retirement.
Harold Elias Mowat died at age 75 on May 7, 1991, and was laid to rest in Farwell, Michigan.
