Eugene James “Gene” Marcotte
Eugene James “Gene” Marcotte was born in Rochester, Michigan, on July 13, 1923, the son of Oren and Edna Lovell Marcotte. He was one of thirteen children and one of six Marcotte sons to serve in uniform during World War II.
In February 1941, Gene entered the U.S. Navy. After training at Norfolk, Virginia, Jacksonville, Florida, and Corpus Christi, Texas, he was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where he worked in a naval assembly and repair facility. He married Evelyn Tuten of Rochester in 1942.
After the war, Gene worked as a civil service employee of the U.S. Army. He lived in Clinton Township, Michigan, and spent his winters in Plant City, Florida.
Eugene James Marcotte died at age 80 on January 25, 2004, and was laid to rest at White Chapel Cemetery.
