Earsel Stanley Myers
Earsel Stanley Myers was born in Pontiac, Michigan, on October 10, 1925, the son of Lawrence and Lillian Sutherland Myers. The Myers family lived on Mill Street in Rochester, and Earsel attended Rochester High School.
In February 1943, Earsel entered the U.S. Navy. He was first stationed aboard the attack transport USS Sheridan, which operated in the Pacific Theater, debarking troops and cargo for the invasion of the Gilbert Islands. In June 1944, Earsel was transferred to the destroyer USS Porter. The Porter operated in the Pacific Theater, patrolling in the Kurile Islands between Russia and Japan. Earsel was released from military service in February 1946.
After the war, Earsel married and started a family. He was employed at Key Manufacturing in Royal Oak, and was also active in scouting and in the Rochester Elks lodge.
Earsel Stanley Myers died at age 63 on July 20, 1989, and was laid to rest in White Chapel Cemetery.
