Arthur Dale Reynolds
Arthur Dale Reynolds was born in Rochester, Michigan, on October 6, 1920, the son of Harry and Flora Carpenter Reynolds. Arthur grew up in Troy Township and attended Clawson High School. His family moved to Avon Township around 1940. After high school, Arthur enrolled in Michigan State College (now MSU) to continue his education.
In September 1942, Arthur enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces as an aviation cadet. After training as a nose gunner, he was assigned to the 527th Bomb Squadron of the 379th Bombardment Group and stationed in Europe. Arthur was killed on December 9, 1944, when the B-17 bomber on which he was serving as a crew member collided with another airplane over France. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
Arthur Dale Reynolds died at age 24 on December 9, 1944, and was laid to rest in Épinal American Cemetery and Memorial, Épinal, France.
