Leslie James “Jim” Eggleston
Leslie James “Jim” Eggleston was born in Detroit, Michigan, on May 30, 1926, the son of Leslie and Dorothy Hinkle Eggleston. The Eggleston family came to Rochester in 1938 when Jim’s father opened Eggleston’s Department Store on Main Street. Jim attended Rochester High School and graduated in the class of 1944.
In November 1944, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces. He was enrolled in an airplane mechanics course at Keesler Field in Biloxi, Mississippi, and was later sent to Germany with the Allied occupation forces. Jim was released from military service in 1946.
After the war, Jim married, started a family, and worked in the family business in Rochester. He later moved to Glendale, Arizona, where he was active in real estate development and ran a retail clothing business.
Leslie James Eggleston died at age 91 on July 12, 2017.
