John Samuel Terry

John Samuel Terry was born in Pontiac, Michigan, on June 18, 1925, the son of G. Preston and Mary Shields Terry. The Terry family had lived in Oakland County since the pioneer era. John attended Rochester High School and graduated with the class of 1943.

John entered the U.S. Navy in September 1943 at the age of 18. While overseas in the Pacific Theater of Operations, he participated in the invasions of Saipan, Bougainville, and Midway. He was then transferred to Coronado, California, where he served as an administrative aide to Rear Admiral George H. Fort. John was released from military service in May 1946 after 32 months of active duty.

In 1952, John earned his D.D.S. degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He established his practice in Rochester, where he was a well-known dentist on Walnut Street for the next 33 years. In 1985, Dr. Terry retired and sold his dental practice to Dr. Walter Kubinski.

Dr. John Samuel Terry died on June 17, 2017, at the age of 91.
