Charles Leonard Throneburg

Charles Leonard Throneburg was born in Ecorse, Michigan, on January 16, 1922, the son of Sylvan and Mary Brown Throneburg. He grew up in Warren, Michigan, and later moved to Rochester, where his sister, Sylvia Siegler, resided.

Charles entered the U.S. Coast Guard at age 18 in August 1940. He was stationed at Algiers Point in New Orleans on the Coast Guard tender Sunflower, which patrolled the Gulf Coast along Texas and Louisiana. Charles was released from military service in January 1947.

After the war, Charles and his wife settled in Corpus Christi, Texas, to raise their family. Charles joined the Corpus Christi Fire Department in 1953 as a firefighter and later became a fire inspector. He served in the fire department until his death.

Charles Leonard Throneburg died at age 56 on December 29, 1978, and was laid to rest in Corpus Christi, Texas.
