Meet Our Honor Roll: Beulah Ann Storey Tyler

Beulah Ann Storey was born in Hersey, Michigan, on November 9, 1922, the daughter of John and Flossie Derevage Storey. She attended Hersey High School and graduated in the class of 1941. After high school, Beulah worked as an inspector at National Twist Drill & Tool Company in Avon Township. She married Lloyd Clifford Tyler of Rochester, Michigan, in February 1943.

In May 1944, Beulah’s husband was drafted and entered the U.S. Navy. In October 1944, Beulah enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) and was sent to basic training in Des Moines, Iowa. She then trained as a medical technician and was stationed at LaGarde Army Hospital in New Orleans. Beulah was discharged from military duty in December 1945.

After the war, Beulah and her husband ran a dairy farm in Yale, Michigan. Working with the Children’s Aid Society of Detroit, they fostered many children at the farm.

Beulah Ann Storey Tyler died at age 88 on May 13, 2011, and was laid to rest in Hersey, Michigan.
