Edward Joseph Blumberger

Edward Joseph Blumberger was born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 1, 1923, the son of August and Marie Ott Blumberger. The Blumbergers moved to Avon Township when Edward was a child and lived on Orchardview Avenue. Edward attended Rochester High School, where he participated in boxing, and graduated in the class of 1941.

Before the war, Edward worked at the R.C. Mahon Company in Detroit. He entered the U.S. Army in January 1943 and served in the 543rd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment—an amphibious unit—in the Pacific Theater. The 543rd was involved in landings at Leyte and Aomori, Japan, and was attached to the Sixth Army as part of the Allied occupation forces in Japan. Edward was released from military service in February 1946.

After the war, Edward married and worked in the steel industry.

Edward Joseph Blumberger died at the age of 93 on May 2, 2017, and was laid to rest at Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak, Michigan.
