Wayne Young Holman
Wayne Young Holman was born in Rochester, Michigan, on May 28, 1921, the son of Leon and Helen Young Holman. Wayne attended Rochester High School and graduated in the class of 1939.
In November 1939, Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, with a machine gun group on December 7, 1941, and was a survivor of the Japanese attack. He was also stationed at Midway Island and New Zealand, and saw action at Guadalcanal. Wayne was discharged from military service in December 1945.
After the war, Wayne and his wife Joyce, whom he had married in 1944, lived in Rochester. Wayne worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company until retirement, and his wife taught in the Rochester Community Schools. The couple retired to Florida.
Wayne Young Holman died at age 62 on August 5, 1983.
