Leonard John Ziemann

Leonard John Ziemann was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, on July 19, 1914, the son of Bernard and Mary Clapp Ziemann. He attended high school in Royal Oak and then worked as a manager at Ferryview Sand & Gravel in Avon Township. His family lived on Hamlin Road.

In March 1944, Leonard entered the U.S. Navy. He was training as a motor machinist’s mate when he was killed on April 10, 1944, in an accident at the U.S. Naval Training Station at Farragut, Idaho. It had only been one month since his induction into the service. His remains were returned to his family in Avon Township.

Leonard John Ziemann was laid to rest in St. Marys Cemetery in Royal Oak, Michigan.
