Donald James Callard

Donald James Callard was born in Livingston County, Michigan, on May 15, 1918, the son of James and Eva Maxfield Callard. Donald grew up in Troy Township, but by 1940, his family had moved to Avon Township and lived on Avon Road. Before the war, Donald was employed as a truck driver at a CCC camp.

In April 1941, Donald entered the U.S. Army. He was assigned to a medical unit in the 32nd Infantry Division and spent 28 months serving as a litter bearer in the Pacific Theater. Donald was released from military service in September 1945.

After the war, Donald married, worked in the auto industry, and retired from General Motors Truck & Coach Division.

Donald James Callard died at age 61 on March 29, 1980, and was laid to rest in Royal Oak, Michigan.
