George Arthur Hesketh Jr.

George Arthur Hesketh Jr. was born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 16, 1925, the son of George and Edith Mitchell Hesketh. The Hesketh family moved to Rochester about 1941 and lived on Highland Avenue. George’s father was employed by National Twist Drill & Tool Company. George attended Rochester High School and graduated in the class of 1943.

In August 1943, George enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was assigned to the 129th Naval Construction Battalion (Seabees) and was stationed in the Philippines. He was released from military service in 1946.

After the war, George married, started a family, and embarked on a 35-year career in marketing with Detroit Edison, retiring in 1985. He lived in Oxford, Michigan, where he was active in many community organizations, including the Oxford Rotary Club and Oxford Chamber of Commerce.

George Arthur Hesketh Jr. died at age 80 on December 2, 2005, and was laid to rest in Mount Avon Cemetery.
