Charles John Dillman

Charles John Dillman was born in Rochester, Michigan, on January 14, 1921, the son of Arthur and Hilda Upton Dillman. His father was one of the partners in the Dillman & Upton lumber company of Rochester. Charles attended Rochester High School and graduated in the class of 1938. He continued his education at the University of Michigan and earned his bachelor’s degree in 1942.

Immediately upon graduation from college, Charles enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard at the rank of ensign and was stationed at Chevy Chase, Maryland, and later at New York City. He was released from military service in April 1946.

After the war, Charles worked in the family lumber company, eventually becoming a partner.

Charles J. Dillman died at the age of 62 on January 4, 1984, and was laid to rest at Mount Avon Cemetery.
