SUMMARY:RAHS Salon: Rochester Neighborhoods & Streets
DESCRIPTION:Based on the salons of the past\, the Rochester-Avon Historical Society’s newest program is a Community Conversation titled\, “Rochester Neighborhoods & Streets.” The program is on Thursday\, May 7 at 7 p.m. at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm (1005 Van Hoosen Rd.\, Rochester Hills). Come and meet fellow local history enthusiasts and share your stories and interest in the history of the Rochester area. \nIt’s a night of conversation and sharing with the aim of building community and friendship. No lectures\, no formal presentations. We’ll simply be sharing and listening to stories about our neighborhoods and the streets we grew up on or currently live on. We’ll begin with a brief look at area street names and who they are named for. So dig out those old photo albums\, bring your photos and stories about the streets where you live! All are welcome. There’s limited seating for this event. Light snacks will be provided. \nLimited seating for this event. Light snacks and bottled water will be provided. This event is free for RAHS members. Nonmembers are asked to consider a $5 suggested donation at the door. Registration is required. This popular community event is the society’s largest fundraiser! Whether you have inherited a family keepsake\, discovered a curious find at an estate sale\, or simply want to learn more about a favorite collectible\, Antique Appraisal Day offers a fascinating and educational experience for collectors and history enthusiasts alike! Think of it as a local version of one of television’s most popular antique appraisal shows!\nSpecialists will be available to appraise the following:\n\nBooks; records; cast iron toys\, dolls\, teddy bears; coins; décor; clocks\, glass\, pottery\, china\, collectibles\, lighting\, furniture; fine & vintage costume jewelry; art: oils & prints\, stained glass\, Eastern art\, engravings; stringed instruments & accessories; sports memorabilia\, pop-culture items\, comic books; military items.\n\nPLEASE NOTE: BRING PHOTOS ONLY and descriptions of larger items with descriptions.
