The Road to Baghdad

Join the Rochester-Avon Historical Society and Lieutenant Colonel Ernest “Rock” Marcone on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm for a discussion about the United States' involvement in Middle East in the early 2000s. Marcone commanded the Army’s 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In the opening days of the conflict against Baghdad, the regiment served as the "point of the spear" for the 3rd Infantry Division and was a key participant in several important battles, including the capture of a vital bridge across Euphrates River and the the seizure of Baghdad International Airport.
